Marmot Photography Awards

UKClimbing and UKHillwalking are proud to announce the line-up for this year's Photography Awards. With a new sponsor comes a new format, and due to the absence of a Photography Award last year we have extended this year's to include the best of both 2014 and 2015.

As opposed to previous years, where we have simply announced a single winner from each category, this year we have put on display the Top 5 from each category so that you, the user, can vote for who you deem most worthy. Voting closes at midnight on the 31st December, with the final results - and prizes - being announced in January 2016.

To vote simply click through the range of images, then follow the instructions below. You can vote for as many photos as you like, but there is a limit to one vote per photograph. Alternatively, click here to visit the Competition Gallery in its entirety.

In additon to the category awards we also have three overall winners (1st, 2nd, 3rd), which will be selected by professional photographer Tim Glasby. Tim has worked closely with Marmot for many years, with images of all their key athletes to his name - Steve McClure, Lucy Creamer, Neil Mawson, Jack Geldard, and Leah Crane - just to name a few. Alongside his choices he will be including a paragraph on why he has made each selection, just to provide a bit of background on his thinking.

The Hillwalking categories all point at the original photos rather than the Competitions area, so all have the original votes. Also, 3 of the Hillwalking pictures should really be in Winter Hillwalking :-)
I think we must have noticed that around the same time, just sorted that out. As for the categories, we elected to keep each image within it's original category - that way things were kept nice and simple. That said, I am inclined to agree that there are a few that could be in either/or/both...

Wow, that is a set of photos! Some truly outstanding shots. In fact, pretty much all of them! Congratulations to all who made the final.

At the risk of blowing my own trumpet... but no indoor shots competition?
23 Dec, 2015
Slight shame there's little actual climbing going on in the winter climbing category (there were other options: eg http://www.ukclimbing.com/images/dbpage.html?id=212348 http://www.ukclimbing.com/images/dbpage.html?id=235998 and http://www.ukclimbing.com/images/dbpage.html?id=233950) but apart from that minor mump, there's some class shots in there. Nice one. D.
