WINNER: tom bradley

For more than 30 years Petzl has led the way in as an innovator in the research, design and manufacture of quality headtorches. From humble beginnings, when Fernand Petzl fashioned the first helmet-mounted light for caving, headtorches were refined over time, until he created the 'Zoom' model, which, with its rotating bezel as a switch and focus adjuster, became a seminal outdoor product well into the 21st century.

Petzl now provides a comprehensive range of hands-free lighting for many outdoor activities including alpinism, fishing, night-running and canyoning. Petzl's reactive lighting technology has revolutionised the way we use headlamps in outdoor sport, providing balance between a lengthy burn time and high power output. Beyond power, Intelligence!

Petzl are now pleased to introduce the next step in providing an easy way to adjust burn time and lighting power on the fly, the new REACTIK +, a smart, connected and rechargeable Petzl headlamp with Bluetooth® and Reactive Lighting Technology. Through the MyPetzl Light smartphone app you can monitor battery life in real time, choose a specific lighting profile for your activity, and control the brightness of your REACTIK + on the fly. Use Reactive Lighting and Bluetooth technology to optimize burn times.

With 300 lumens of power, the REACTIK + headlamp offers outdoor enthusiasts a compact, intelligent, connected, rechargeable solution. Thanks to the MyPetzl Light mobile app, the user may at any time consult his smart phone or tablet to check the remaining battery life and adapt the performance of the headlamp to the activity: trail running, mountaineering, trekking, backpacking. Simply download the profiles provided or create your own personalized ones. During your activity, with REACTIVE LIGHTING technology, REACTIK + analyzes the ambient light and adjusts brightness instantly to user requirements. Battery life is optimized while reducing the need to constantly adjust settings manually.

Can somebody please advise which Petzl headtorch just has an On / Off switch? Ta.

Problem is battery - either the light has to be sufficiently crap that the battery will last for a long time, or you have to be able to use lower brightnesses to avoid using up all of the battery in an hour or so. So in answer to your questions, probably the really low-brightness ones? :)

They couldn't just put a little LCD battery indicator on it or some traffic light LED's? I have a MTB handlebar headlamp that tells you how many hours of light you have left and on what brightness setting with the use of a single RGB LED. Seems to me that fitting Bluetooth to a head torch is like fitting suspension springs on a library card, costly and completely pointless.

I answered with option two, but I'm really hoping the correct answer is option three.
