We’re starting to see the first few signs of better weather and with that comes the opportunity to think about heading into the great outdoors!
Whilst many UKC users will already be regular outdoor climbers, there are lots of climbers who have come to the sport via indoor climbing centres and may be nervous to take that first step into outdoor climbing, or younger climbers who don’t have access to the expertise required to climb outdoors safely.
The Manchester, Harrogate & Reading Climbing Centres are offering a selection of outdoor activities for adults, kids and families to experience outdoor climbing at some great venues.
Each Centre’s sessions and dates are as follows:
Manchester
Adult Outdoor Evening – 6pm until dusk, £25 per person
An evening’s climbing, set up and instructed by one of MCC’s in-house climbing instructors. No previous outdoor climbing experience is required, but you should be registered as a competent belayer at the Centre. The venues are all within a 50 minute drive of the centre, with Hobson Moor being the closes at 25 minutes, ideal for an after-work climb.

This is the perfect opportunity for families to climb together. The Family Outdoor Day requires at least one adult per child booking. Our instructors will set up and run the day, and no previous experience is required.

Kids Outdoor Day – 10am until 4pm, £35 per person
A full day’s climbing for your little ones. You can leave them with us at the venue and our qualified instructors will take responsibility for them for the whole day. No previous experience is required.

NICAS Candidates Outdoor Day – 10am until 4pm, £35 per person
These sessions are for young people who are taking part in the National Indoor Climbing Award Scheme at one of our centres. The NICAS Outdoor Days focus on using the skills learnt on the indoor walls and translating them to the outdoor climbing environment. Each session is at a different crag, making both relevant to anyone taking part in the NICAS scheme.

Harrogate
Through Harrogate Climbing Centre’s partnership with the National Trust at Brimham Rocks, the centre delivers a calendar of activities across the wonderful estate, which offers a huge variety of climbing areas in a beautiful setting.
Kids Outdoor Days – 10am until 4pm, £50 per person
A full day’s climbing for your little ones. You can leave them with us at the venue and our qualified instructors will take responsibility for them for the whole day. No previous experience is required.
