I have a Specialized Allez Compact.

I have a 20mth old toddler who's on the small side of things.

I'd like to combine these two things.

I need a bike seat for her. Been looking at Hamax (a rear seat seems better than crossbar or front seat given the geometry of the road bike.

Any recommendations? Also need helmet for her - again recommendations would be much appreciated.

Try singletrackworld.com

There's bound to be people who've had similar decisions, and possibly with the same bike as well.

In reply to KingStapo: no worries! I've got a hamax on a mountain bike. It's ok, but the right distribution does change a lot, moves to the back a lot and up.

Helmet-whatever fits best and whatever they like (and therefore isn't a battle to get on)

I got a Hamax on my winter/commuter bike (the one that can recline a bit with the knob).

Daughter is 20 months old (and lightish)

She wears a keds helmet I think ( I had to keep looking for the smallest one.

I like the design of clips on this seat (she can undo her phil and teds pushchair clips).

I think you can buy cheaper versions from go outdoors (but i haven't checked them out - i.e. clip design)

For sure the centre of gravity is higher - but you get used to it - you can practice with a weighted rucksack in seat.

For me being 8 and a bit months pregnant - the hardest thing is getting my foot over the cross bar (where I would normally swing it round the back there is a seat in the way!)

I bought the Hamax reclining seat for my daughter (she was 20 months old when i bought it and also on the smaller side)

I bought it from Halfords and it was £90, then i found it at decathlon for £65 (luckily the have a price match so i got £25 back)
