Anyone else think that the cut of their cycling clothing is very odd?

Went in there this afternoon to look at bib knickers and winter tights and, on me at least, they just don't fit - even the pad seemed very uncomfortable. Will be off to LBS to look at Specialized and Gore stuff, I think - I'm happy to pay the extra to get something that fits.

I did buy a pair of their cycling glasses and a most offensive orange running top, though.

In reply to LastBoyScout: I was very happy with my decathlon branded shorts. obviously there not going to be as good as a pair of £70 gore bib shorts but hey.. they do the bloody job and at only £7, i dont mind having a tiny bit of a numb bum the next day.

there is only so much a pad can do.. even if it is made by gore etc.

In reply to LastBoyScout:

Bit of a mixed bag I think.

The missus bought some winter gloves that were binned after one ride as there was a rather large seam running across the thumb just where she was holding the bars. Bit of a design / testing failure.

She uses a set of their glasses and they seem to do the job though.

The pads and construction in the cuissards look fairly rubbish to me. So much so, I've decided that they aren't worth the gamble. Certainly not when you compare them with the quality of Altura and DHB kit et al for the same or better prices.

In reply to LastBoyScout:

ps. Just been informed that she also owns a Decathlon windproof top and a waterproof top.

They both stay in the gear cupboard. They are heavy and don't have a good cut.

After interrogating her about the cut she admitted she can't really remember - they haven't been out of the gear cupboard for a year!

She uses better kit that she has bought. She describes them as 'cheap and nasty'.

In reply to LastBoyScout: Not sure about cycling gear, but I've got a couple of their £12 windproof jackets for running and they're a perfectly normal cut. Apart from my having to buy their Euro XL / US L size (I'm a textbook size Medium).

In reply to LastBoyScout: I find the cut is a bit hit and miss. I've got 2 pairs of running shorts which are an odd cut but their long-sleeved running tops are brilliant. I wear them for running, biking, walking everything. I also found their 12 euro cycling shorts to be a much better fit than the 50euro pair I got from Dare2Be (horrible name!)

In any case, I've found that a good saddle makes more of a difference than good shorts, to the extent that I don't bother with padded shorts any more.

In reply to LastBoyScout: I got three pairs of Decathlon bib tights - one pair of Rockrider ones and two pairs of B'Twins. All are great and have been bought for about 20 quid. I ridden a thousand odd kms in them with no problems. Virtually all of my cycling gear is Decathlon and had done me proud for 10,000 kms plus I reckon.
