I'm up in Edinburgh Thursday and Friday. Due to work commitments (and work social commitments) I'm sadly not likely to be free at all on the Thursday.

However I was crossing my fingers I -may- be able to get out early morning on the Friday and either dash out to the Climbing Hangar (which looks to be open from 6:30am), or brave the cold and venture up to Arthur's Seat for 7am-ish.

Can anyone local advise if there's much bouldering at Arthur's Seat - the UKC page suggests not, and Salisbury Crags is currently banned, or if there's any public transport to get me from Waverley to the Climbing Hangar in a reasonable time at that hour. Google is suggesting a bus (26) is about 30mins.

I could just give up and accept I won't get a climb in, but I -do- love to check out climbing in different places (even if I'm rubbish).

The #26 bus starts really early in the morning and will get you pretty much direct from Waverley to the Hangar (get off at Goff Ave, its a <5 min walk from there)

The bouldering at Salisbury Crags is still banned by HES (some promise to open up this year, Im not holding my breath) but tbh if you were up there first thing in the morning I really cant see anyone bothering you. The Devomax area (NT 27081 72915) is particularly secluded and doesnt involve crawling under the fence. There also a small area at NT 27368 72734 but not so good.
Its all west facing though so its gonna be very chilly at dawn!

Brill, thanks! I much prefer the thought of a bus journey and a warm (ish) wall over the bracing Scottish air (with no pad).
