Was just wondering what the crack was with fairy steps in summer I know it's sheltered in quite dense forest but is it really midgy and hummid. Wondering if it's a good escape from the grit if it's super hot outside. I'd be climbing in the day rather than at night as I know midge love the night. Cheers

It will be certainly better than the grit but it will be humid, never seen midges there. If you want better conditions maybe somewhere more open like Warton, Farleton or Hutton Roof. But fairy steps is a lovely place to boulder and plenty to entertain all for days.

No midges at Fairy Steps. Walked by Woodwell yesterday and it was dripping wet. It's very hot and sunny today so FS would probably be drying quickly and pleasantly shaded.
