Am looking to buy a chalk bucket but unsure which one to buy. Out of the moon boulder bucket, the dmm edge chalk bucket and the snap vanity which would you choose and why.

The one that comes in your favourite colour

I've got the Edge. It gives me chalk when it's meant to, closes enough that it doesn't spill it everywhere when it's not. I can stick toothbrushes and keys in it.

The others do pretty much the same - so I think it mostly comes down to fashion...

The moon one with the roll top was my favorite (I lost mine though)....got the bigger drawstring moon one now which is a bit too big tbh

Why do boulderers need so much chalk that a normal size chalk bag is not big enough? Genuine question.

I've wondered that. Why do they take their 'buckets' indoors too?

+1 for moon with rolled top, Velcro top so closes when you put it down and you don't end up losing chalk when someone accidently knocks it over or when you land on it and the roll top stops you emptying all your chalk into the bottom of your rucksack.

I bought a chalk bucket because it was always the draw string that went on my chalk bag from constant opening and closing due to not wanting to scatter my chalk around indoor walls or outside

Personally, it's because they're generally shared amongst a group. When at the wall or boulders, I just plonk it on the floor and anyone dips in. Also you can chalk both hands in one go which is convenient but not a deal-breaker
