Remembering Buddy Holly one of the innovators  of Rock music who tragically died in a plane crash 60 years ago today aged just 22.  I was a 15 year old fan and still remember the shock of learning of his death when the news broke at my school.

There was a documentary on bbc4 on Friday about him. Well worth looking out for on catchup. His music doesn’t do it for me; but the argument made that the Beatles and Stones were listening and were heavily influenced was compelling.

It was a double header with a documentary about Don MacLean making American Pie; rarely can an artist’s legacy have hung so heavily on one work,  but what a piece of work it is...

Thanks for that

Really interesting that Buddy Holly gets cited by Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck as being both an inspiration, and the motivation to try to buy a Stratocaster.
