I fell asleep in front of the TV. When I woke up there was a film about Northern Soul, featuring mad driving, drugs, dossing on people's floors and frenetic night club action.

I'm sure UKC can point me in the right direction, I'd like to see it from the beginning.

Yes, sounds like 'Northern Soul' - iirc it was one of two films about the Northern scene that came out about the same time. The other - Soul Boy? - had a starrier cast but was not as good
