Excellent Danish film on BBC4 last night, "The Promised Land". I thought it potentially sounded a bit dull from the synopsis, but it had great reviews - plus BBC4 has shown some great Danish stuff at 9pm on Saturdays in previous years - so I decided it was worth a punt. Turned out to be a gripping 2 hours, definitely one of those films to put the phone away and give your full attention. I know there are some other fans of international drama here, so thought I'd mention it.

Paid extra to watch it on Prime on Tuesday then saw it was on BBC 4 yesterday.

Mikkelsen at his best and a lovely film, though the ending was a bit suspect,

Really, I gave up after the first 20 minutes. Found it very plodding. 

We all like different stuff, thankfully. I'll have to watch the other film under scrutiny on these pages and see how it compares to The Promised Land.
