I didn't know much about Steely Dan, but one of my favourite albums - China Crisis: Flaunt the Imperfection, was produced by him and he plays on the album, and helped shape the sound. Perfectly crafted pop, which is as fresh to me today as when I first played it in 1985.
I was away from the forum when I found out about Walter Becker dying. I was really sad, about the same level, that I felt when Ueli Steck died. I was at my daughter's flat. She found Pretzel Logic on Apple music(cheap for students) and we played it twice through. It took me back to the last years of school, listening over and over again at home.
I do not remember having the chance to see Steely Dan, when I was a student in Glasgow. Did they come over here much?
