Looks like we're off to stand in queues in Morzine for the main chunk of our holiday😝.  'Bleau on the way back, natch, but also need somewhere for the first week.

Obviously the answer to every question about brilliant family MTB and climbing destinations is always Briancon, but it's too far away.

So, where should we go for about a week with good climbing, good MTB and not too scorchio in these Climate 2.0 times?

She wants relaxing camping with lovely views, some climbing/ bouldering and XC MTB

16 yo wants lift served bike park

18 yo wants gift served bike, or XC, climbing or bouldering.

I want nice rock climbing, somewhere to send the kids DH. Lift served tech. Bouldering. Cooler temperatures.

We all want Klettersteig.

Clearly we won't get all of the above, but something along those lines.....

Tell me

Down the road at Samoens; find the locals off-piste to add to the mix, and the EWS lines (heard these can still be accessed, did them a few years back); lovely antidote to the boredom of all those Morzine berms.  And there are via ferrata and some local crags; plus some canyoning.

Nice enough campsite next to the Samoens cable car.

Also some XC loops you can link up the GR trails (did a few of these on a hardtail while in snapped Achilles rehab).

Or have a week somewhere like Verbier

- Is Tignes/Les Arc area too far

- Meribel / Deux Alp / La Grave ( might as well go to Briancon if you are that close ... you know you want to, lol)
