Hi everyone,

Does anybody have any experience of joining the Alpine Association of Slovenia?

My husband and I are heading to Slovenia in August for 2 weeks hut-hut hiking and I've seen that becoming a member can save up to 50% on overnight stays.

I've started the online application but it then asks you to choose a mountaineering club at which point I'm not sure what to do - can you just pick one and hope they accept your application? There appear to be hundreds to choose from!

Any advice would be hugely appreciated

Membership of most of the Alpine Clubs in the EU will give you reciprocal rights in Slovenian huts.

I have been a member of the Austrian Alpine Club UK in the past for this reason and because membership provides rescue insurance.

Their website is here

Joining the AAC UK is probably your best approach. Hope you have a good trip.

BMC membership will get you a discount too.  I've just stayed in a couple of huts in Slovenia and got around 20% discount.
