Will be in Austria in late August/September. Does anyone have any suggestions for good locations for multi pitch routes (trad or sport)? Not keen on alpine multi pitch as will not have axe/crampons etc with me. Which guidebooks would be best - a lot seem out of print?

Cheers

It seems that there is no climbing in Austria east of Tyrol... There is.

Around Salzburg, head for Untersberg, Göll, Tennengebirge or Hochkönig to find perfect limestone both bolted and trad. Getting further East, Dachstein and Gesäuse provide long classic multipitch routes that may be wilder in atmosphere than some areas in the west, faces up to 800/1000 meters and in many cases real adventures on good rock.

Bergsteigen.com is a good starting point. As ar some of the hut pages on the web.

Go and do this...Its well bolted and in a stunning location. Plenty of other alternatives around there too. Karlstein not too far away either.
