We went to the Ardeche one year in early October, crowds had died down, still warm, climb by the river, swim, canoe; brilliant.

We went to Sicily - San Vito Lo Capo this year and it was great. Plenty of crags with v short walk-ins. Sandy beach in the town.  Clean sea.

Sardinia is awesome in so many ways! Perfect for beaches, climbing, walking...

just looked it up and it looks amazing, for both family and climbing!

what kind of accommodation did you go for?

did you need a car?

was it expensive once you were there?

We stayed in a villa in San Vito. I'd say you need a car if staying in the town like we did. Beware of some of the car hire companies at the airport as we got stung for additional charges despite already paying online. No option of backing out as we'd have been stuck at the airport with no car.

Food, eating out etc seemed slightly cheaper than the UK but not significantly. It is a tourist resort as well as a climbing destination.

We stayed at El Bahira which has cottages and walking access and dead flat starts to the routes. Walk to town some 30 minutes, also flat.

Make sure to visit the national park to the east - lovely beaches, interesting flora and fauna and easy walking.
