Hi all,

I'm looking into booking a Gite for my/our stay in Fontainebleau, at Easter this year and have no idea where to start looking.

I would be extremely grateful if anyone could shed some light on this subject.

I know it's probably a li'l late to start looking, but the group have only just decided that camping might not be as much fun as first suggested.

Please note that my French is limited to 'Bonjour, three Beers please!' so English websites would be much appreciated.

Cheers and thanks in advance!

Luv Barra! xx

This is a difficult to navigate website. It's easiest if you allow an evening, a couple of bottles of wine, and get an assistant with a map, http://www.gites-de-france.fr/eng/index.htm

And for an amazing teach yourself french for spaccers like me CD, look no further than Michel Thomas. It will make a big difference. http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/0340780630/qid=1076428975/sr=1-2/r...

I've just looked at that and it sell indoor holds!
I'm also looking for somewhere cheap to stay in France when she goes to see the Pixies support the Chili's in June (just had to drop that in!)

yep - http://www.gites-de-france.fr/eng/index.htm is a good site. The Seine et Marne departement(covering most of the Font area) allows you to book online and has an English language version. The web-site is as slow as a piece of limp string though.

Good luck with the dates - I booked recently and Easter was pretty full from what I remember.

That is why I said mail her. She runs an accomodation agency as well, or did but there is no link to it here unless you do a search fro her postings.

If there's nothing available on the Seine et Marne website, you might try the neighbouring Essonne region:

http://www.gites-de-france-essonne.com/uk/heberge.htm

Region 4 - Le Gatinais francais - covers the area around Milly-la-Foret. Some of the gites in the eastern part of this area are quite close to the forest. You can also book online through this site.

Oops yes - http://www.indoor-rock.co.uk is one of my businesses which sells climbing holds on the Internet, but www.stopoverconnections.com is my main business. However, I mainly work with B&Bs, chateau and small hotels in France. I don't have any gites close to Fontainebleau unfortunately. Must plug that gap!

Taa for the recommendation though Sutty and Nick

Not sure if you still need the info, but i have used 'allez france' to book places - very reasonably priced etc. Not used the website though: www.allezfrance.com
