Car insurance in France

Hi all,

There’s four of us heading to France next month in my mates car. Once in France, are the rest of us then covered to drive his car as per normal insurance practices in France? Or does his insurance being UK based mean we would all need adding to his policy?
It’s a lease car provided by his employer and his insurance is taken care of for him and therefore he isn’t in a position to be adding drivers to the policy.

thanks in advance

Jim

I think your mate needs to get a hold of his insurance policy PDQ.

Sounds like incredibly wishful thinking to me!

If it's a lease car, is he even insured to take it abroad? Think as EU members there was a requirement to cover up to 90 days in other member states - but how we've left.....

If it's a UK policy, no chance they will offer different (more comprehensive) cover abroad than in the UK.

Sounds like you need to take someone else's car, or get in touch with the lease company and pay to add yourself and other members of the group to his policy.
