We’re going on holiday next weekend and Crete is looking like a good option. It’s mainly a holiday to relax, eat some nice local food and swim in the sea, but we might fit in the odd day of climbing.

Can anyone recommend a town where we might be able to hire an AirBnB which has some nice beaches/coves close by and has the options for some climbing (vertical 6’s and 7’s ideally) and walking (easy trails, well signed or a nice out and back, nothing adventurous)?

Order of importance would be:

1) Beaches and good food

2) Walking

3) Climbing

We are a bit overwhelmed by all the online guides so any tips would be welcomed!

In reply to James Malloch:

On my way home from Crete. Just stayed at the Suite of Light Rooms in Perama - nice accomodation in a village about 10 mins from the coast. Good beaches close (particularly recommend Spilies) - where there is potentially some bouldering and barefoot DWS out of the sea. It's also about 40mins drive from Mt Ida - but it is very hot at the moment. Didn't do any climbing so can't comment on that. But the ancient sites are epic! Rethymno (25 mins) is a nice town
