Anyone climbed on Corfu? D.W.S. potential looks good.

Until you get there.
Scooped it out a while back and found next to nothing. Maybe you'll have better luck, I hope so.

In reply to Mr Damo: Did you check out this cave? Seems like there are quite a few crags on the island.

In reply to Trevor S:
No, I didn't see anything quite like that. Certainly looks to have potential.

I went to Kavos, so climbing was not at the front of my mind, for that extremely drunken week. However at one point, when I was sobering up a bit, we went on a boat trip to mainland Greece. We went past a cave which looked very similar to that one, which had a ladder at the apex of the cave. I wasn't thinking very clearly, and obviously I wasn't anywhere near close enough to have a good look, but it looked well worn, and like there would be some possiblities.

However I personally want to go here and ind some routes up this big lump of rock:

In reply to Trevor S: My girlfriend booked us a holiday out there last oct. and so of cause I took the rope, rack, shoes....... the lot. I had this vision of naked bouldering and heroic dynos above crystal clear blue seas. No such luck the place is made from builders rubble and talcom powder. I would have been better off with my crampons and ice axes. With climbing off the cards I decided to hire a speed boat and recce some of the nearby bays, only to bottom out the engine on a f**king sand bank. The next day we went for a two our donkey ride and as a result I couldn't walk or sit down for the rest of the holiday.

I have to say that I can't remember a single climbable place all over the island of Corfu!

And most of Cor-Phew looked like it needed to be finished too.

And steer clear of Kavos, it's like Rhyl but much, much worse

In reply to Trevor S: I had a family Holiday on Corfu (Paleokastitsa)last year could not find any info on climbing there in the UK or from locals whilst on holiday. Some big crags in the hills around the resort looked brilliant but difficult access 43C temp did not help. Did find some pretty good bouldering above the sea at Elly beach & the Paleo beaches, DWS would be a bit of an exageration! I'm sure someone must have checked out those big crags above Makrades. The roadside stuff I did look at was pretty grim.
