Heading to Beziers for 2 weeks end of May with family. Hoping to get some family climbing in on single pitch crags, can anyone recommend any crags with directions or guide book. Grades 3,4,5's. thinking maybe Gorges d'Heric any advice welcome please.

In reply to Giles Family:

From memory there is a good selection of single pitch routes at the required grade on both sides of the lower end of the gorge. Access is very easy as well.

I think so too. There are rather nice Lakes-style crags higher up with long trad routes but lots of short bolted pitches on the path by the river.

Thaurac/Gorges d'Herault is nice and very extensive and wouldn't be a bad bet - Sector Ecole has a top rope area and when you've had enough, taking hire canoes down the river is a hoot - on the other side of the road and highly recommended and very, very scenic. On the road between St Bauzille and Ganges. not far from Millau

La Clape, between Narbonne and the sea, might be worth a shot. Not been there myself.

My guide is Mistral 1, sudfrankreich west. Best described as 'just sufficient'. It will get you to the right crag and give you a fair steer to the routes, but not all crags have topos, but what with painted route names and the like, we got by OK.
