I'm planning to be in the Peak at the weekend - but i'm on call so will need a decent mobile phone reception.

Are there any areas/crags that have a particularly bad reception?
My phone is on the Orange network.

Thanks,
Brian

In reply to Brian Rodgers:

I expect there'll be an Orange coverage map that will help with this

In reply to Brian Rodgers: I don't know how you do it (my phone was set up for me) but Orange and T-Mobile have some sort of arrangement where by if your phone loses orange signal it will kick over to and use t-mobile at no extra charge. I think you just have to ring and ask them to do it for you?

This may prove to be useless info but I did notice the difference last w/e in an area of wales where my orange signal is usually fairly weak I had full signal and my phone said t-mobile/orange??

In reply to Brian Rodgers: I reckon as long as you go somewhere exposed and reasonably high such as eastern edges, rather than somewhere in a valley surrounded by trees like WCJ or cheedale, you'll be fine. Also, for the eastern edges, if it works at the car, chances are it will work at the crag, so if it doesnt work when you arrive just drive on to somwhere else.

In reply to All:
Thanks for the replies.

There is an Orange coverage map and it seems to be quite detailed.
( How accurate it is remains to be seen. )
I'll go with that for now and check for signal when i arrive.

Cheers,
Brian

In reply to Brian Rodgers:

I do know that there is no reception along the Snake Pass Road from Ladybower to Glossop, or anywhere in the Derwent Valley from Ladybower up to Slippery Stones.

I'm not aware of any other dead areas. You should be fine on the Edges.
