October Mountaineering/ Climbing Trip - Dilemma

Hello everyone,

I’m in a bit of a dilemma. My partner is heading off on a (planned) long trip, and I’ve found myself with two weeks off work in mid-October with no plans - all fault of my own with not being organised. I’m trying to pull together some ideas for how to make the most of it.

Ideally, I’d like to explore some higher-altitude peaks and maybe do some easy mountaineering-style hikes with a guide, as I don’t have a huge amount of high altitude experience. I would also be open to trad/ sport destinations (as have good experience) but will be travelling solo.

I’ve been looking at Georgia as a possibility, maybe even trying for a summit in the Caucasus, but it seems many guiding outfits stop offering trips after September. I’ve also been considering the Tatra Mountains.

With a bit of a “world is your oyster” mindset, I’d really appreciate any suggestions for exciting destinations around that time (bonus points if they’re reasonably affordable and if anyone has any connections).

Thanks a lot for any tips!

Toubkal and the high Atlas in Morocco? Potentially a good time of year for that.
