Hey, 

Does anyone have any recommendations for town/villages or even specific apartments/chalets to stay in the Ötztal Valley? We're a group looking for a variety of activities climbing/klettersteig/biking/hiking maybe alpinism.

A while ago now (2008) but we stayed in Haus Elisabeth in Obergurgl which was very nice. Might be pricy though.

Ötztal actually has a pretty useful app. If you dig around a bit, yoiu will even find topos for the various crags in the valley.

It might be worth looking for accommodation that includes the summer card. Like a few other areas in Austria you can get some amazing perks like free bus travel, swimming pool/lakes and a limited number of chair lift rides.

Langenfeld would be a good choice. 2 good klettersteig and a crag in walking distance, several others 10-15 mins drive. Nice little town with bars, restaurants, supermarkets and a climbing shop. Also a very good campsite with chalets available at Camping Langenfeld.
