Evening.

In Matlock for a family week.

I have enough gear to top rope my son, who's 5yrs old and just needs safe, easy, non reachy, prob gritstone. But no midges please.

Also access to the top to set up required.

However. Left the guide book at home.

Any sensible suggestions please?

Obviously I can turn up at stanage, Burbage etc and find sensible options with ease.

Just looking for localish crags for him to play on.

Thanks. Kev.

Harborough Rocks, it's limestone but otherwise fits the bill I suspect.

Windgather Rocks not too far from Matlock, perhaps.

Thanks. Harborough will look into. Familiar with windgather. All appreciated.

All of the above, plus if you want an afternoon of wiggling through holes and scrambling about rather than climbing proper, Higger Tor. Good fun for (3)5-year-olds, anyway.

You could mix it up with some pretty short routes nearby at the right end of Stanage Popular, inc some lower grades, but I make no promises re midges.

Cratcliffe and Robin Hood's Stride great for kids bouldering and weaseling.
