Hi I'm planning a trip to the Picos De Europa in June 09. I'm planning to go by ferry to Santander and want to travel to Covadonga to walk the "flight of the Arabs" route to Pembles.
I'm struggling to find out on the Web the public transport routes to these places from Santander.
Has anyone got any advice on where to find info or do you have experiance of this route?
Thanks

Hi, these people do the buses in the picos. This is the map for the regional service, but they could well also have ones that go to santander (maybe with a change involved).

I don't think there was anything about the 'flight of the Arabs' in it, but I used a really handy guidebook from http://www.climbpicosdeeuropa.com
it mostly focused on updated climbing infor, but there was some good, useful travel info for Picos de Europa area.

Hope that helps?..have a good trip!

In reply to karen Gay: There are both express buses and trains (narrow gauge) from Santander to Arriondas. From there it's a short local bus or taxi ride to Cangas de Onis and on to Covadonga.

If you are going to Covadonga make sure you go all the way up to Los Lagos, I think Alsa have a bus that goes up and I tell you what the bus journey up is something else!!!

In reply to PDL: I entirely agree. Especially in the thick mist that so often surrounds it.
