Places worth a visit on drive back from the Alps?

We are driving back from the Alps (Les 2 Alpes) to the UK in a couple of weeks. Flexible on the route and keen to break the journey up.  Does anyone have any recommendations for places to stop along the way?  Is there anywhere good for running/biking/hiking/via ferrata? (Won't have climbing rack with us!)

We’re in Font at the moment for a week on the way back from Chamonix. We’ve got our own mats with us but the Gite we’re renting in Noisy sur Ecole has some included.
