Can anyone recommend a place where I can climb comfortably in the first week of November and my lovely wife and lie on the beach or by the pool? Costa blanca is a little cool for pool side relaxing I think.

Tafrout (there are a couple of pools)
Thailand (borderline rainy season?)
Australia
Canaries
Cuba -not sure how dry it will be but should be warm if it isn't getting hurricained, also have no idea about the climbing other than there is some...

Sicily - San Vito Lo Capo - plenty of climbing with a fabulous beach...and only a short drive from the airport!

Cheap accomodation in 29 Palms or Joshua Tree (the village) (all have pools). Fly to LA or Vegas, whichever is cheaper, although Vegas is easier driving. Try http://www.highdesertmotel.com/

There is also sport climbing in Joshua Tree National Park, but NJC has more variety. Although JT has a pair of 5.2 sport, great for kids to try leading!

I used to be there every november, so have climbed a lot at that time of year. Lost 1 day in 2023 due to 6" of snow, but otherwise teeshirts and shorts.

Sure, I've been to San Vito in every month except July, in November you can climb but f# all else, it's shut down, the pools are empty and you are happy if your accomodation has heating.

And following on from Jim's post on San Vito...

every time (i.e. March and Nov)  i've been to Tafraout and popped up to Les Amandiers for a beer, the pool was either empty or looking unloved.  I presume they only maintain it during the summer.

In reply to 99ster:

The weather in the Med in November is very iffy. Can be shire.

For JT, Ontario airport is more convenient than LAX or Vegas.
