I'm sure this is a bit of a long shot, but I'm looking for some retired climbing ropes to sew into rugs, chalk bags, belts etc.

I've not tried this before so just need to give it a go first, and if it works I plan on giving them away at my local climbing centre for a donation to Climbers Against Cancer. Feels pretty appropriate considering the reason I have time to do this is that I'm struggling to climb often due to my cancer treatment. 

Anyway, I'd really appreciate any rope donations! Just pop me a message and I can forward my address (and a picture of a dodgy looking rug when I figure out the sewing)

In reply to GizmoPow: it might help if you say where you're based ? Posting ropes is quite expensive, possibly more than you'd be selling the items for ? Might be easier and cheaper to drop them off.

Very good point, thank you. I'm in south Devon but often travel to Cornwall and South Wales so could also collect around there.

Give the life centre climbing wall in Plymouth a ring and we'll add you to the list of people/orgs we donate our and other people's, which they drop off, retired ropes too.

In reply to GizmoPow: if I lived nearby I would sort a couple  out . Maybe  asking at your local wall ? Also I treat my  dislikes with a degree of amusement but sometimes the ones on other peoples posts annoy / upset  . To the person who disliked this post ….get sone help . Really .
