Has anyone tried the Merrell Men's Trail Glove Trainer?

My Inov8s are due for a change. I was thinking a pair of the Roclite 315 or perhaps these . . .

Just my 2p but having been a regular Merrell wearer for the past 10 years I've recently abandoned the brand as I feel that their quality for the price really has gone downhill. I've switched to 5.10 instead, early days but happy so far

I got a pair about 5 weeks ago. Have been wearing them without socks (as the box told me to!) and they are dead comfy. The toes look a bit clumpy, or slightly like rock boots, but they certainly don't feel like that. I went out for a run in them too - no blisters, no rubbing, nothing. Expensive but worth it I think!

Although be prepared to wash them every so often, because without socks - good lord they smell

In reply to pepperpot: I saw them in cotswold the other day, didn't try any on but the blue (olympia) looked like the best colour.

In reply to pepperpot: I've being minimalist running in them for a couple of months now and they're great!

It does feel a little like a rock shoe, but with a wider toe box.

Go easy though if you haven't done any barefoot running - works muscles you might not have used before

Any advice on sizing? I'm interested, btu don't have a chance to try them on anywhere locally. I'm a 45 in Inov-8 310s - is the Merrell sizing comparable?

In reply to pepperpot: Have you tried the inov8 bare grip? for pure grassy fell routes they are lovely..

TBH though most fell shoes, like the inov8 xtalons 190 are basiclaly barefoot, i.e. they give very littl support.

I looked at the Trail Gloves and they look excellent. I might pick up a pair at some point.

Have you considered Vibram FiveFingers? If you can get past the freaky aesthetic standpoint they are amazingly comfortable and great to run in, AS LONG AS YOU GET THE RIGHT SIZE. I run in my KSOs all the time and love them to bits.

Also they make wicked approach/descent shoes - get the Treks or TrekSports with the lugged soles and you can hang them off the back of your harness. Very low-profile but make for a much better walk down than rock shoes!
