I'm looking at getting a multi fuel stove, but already have a trangia. I was wondering if there are any stoves that can fit in the trangia? I know they do there own one, but £130 for a dual fuel stove is bit pricy. I have seen that the primus multifuel ex or optimus nova+ can fit the trangia? Any one got any recommedations? I would also like it to be able to be used on its own whihc the trangia multi fuel burner cannot do.

In reply to Boulderdash86: If you take the primus multifuel stove and drill off the legs, it fits neatly into the hole in the larger trangia. I have such a beast.

Disadvantages? Well, you can no longer use the primus stove on its own as it has no legs and the whole assembly means that it's a base camp stove rather than one you'd take with you if you were going any distance.

Advantages? All the multifuel advantages of the primus stove plus it laughs in the face of gale force winds.

I'd do one of 2 things:

1 - cut out the middle of the Trangia, so it fits over the Primus stove - well, you're never going to use it with the meths burner again anyway, are you?.

This might be tricky to adjust the flame, though and you'll probably have to do that at the fuel bottle, as the Trangia body will cover the stove adjuster - unless you cut a chunk out of the side of the Trangia body to allow access.

2 - buy a Primus and windshield and just use the pans from the Trangia.

1. The Trangia Multifuel is a custom made Optimus Nova.
2. Optimus makes a separate Trangia Adaptor that fits the Nova and Nova+
3. The Optimus Trangia Adaptor fits the Primus Omnifuel
4. MSR Whisperlight can be fitted into a Trangia too

The Nova and Nova+ as well as the Whisperlight burns white gas and kerosene only
The Primus Omnifuel burns white gas and kerosene - and gas too!
