Hi, I need a new pair of winter boots, and could do with some advice on where will do a good boot fitting service. Either London or Hampshire (but after a disaster with my old ones I will travel further for good service!). B3s or B2s at a push. I seem to have odd feet so need somewhere that will take their time and do a thorough job.
Thanks guys!

I've just bought a pair of B2s. I'll probably get shouted down for saying this but I went round several independent climbing shops (which I normally like to support) and I just wasn't getting good enough advice. I then went to Cotswold (Keswick) and the guy was fantastic - he obviously had had specific training on feet/boots.

......so I suppose my point is, try to find somewhere where the staff have had specific training on boots, which might mean choosing a bigger shop like the branches around Covent Garden. If you have funny feet, some people speak highly about moulded insoles, but I've never tried them.

In london there are 5 snow and rocks, the Covent garden, Kensington and Monumnet stores all have a hiking department and gait analysis. With the Kensington and Covent garden departments being the largest. Personally i would try one of them; just because your guaranteed a good range of shoes.

How far are you from Brighton? Open Spaces in Brighton are very good. The owners Eddie and Ros, are really helpful and knowledgable about boot fitting. I have bought many pairs of boots from them over the years and have never had a problem. They don't mind if you spend all day trying on their stock and would rather you went away empty handed rather than feeling pressurised into buying boots that aren't right for you. I have odd feet too and I know how difficult it is to get comfy boots.

I suggest however that you ring first to discuss your size and requirements in relation to what they have in stock before making a wasted journey.

The Cotswold in Southampton (Hedge End) is one of their specialist boot fitting shops. Not sure how good they are but then they fitted my gf's hiking boot I was impressed with the service. The guy was literally run off his feet with customers and spent well over 2 hours with us sorting it all out between the 3 couples getting footwear.

Free parking at the back too.

Peglers are probably the best around - well worth the trip and you can make a nice day out of it to - castle and all that malarkey. Peglers have a very wide range and do know what they ae talking about.
