I'm currently using Petzl Cordex gloves for cliff rescue team jobs as that's what the team get provided with and think they're good, but I also need some for mast and tower work at work. Anyone got any recommendations for alternatives? Dexterity, grip and toughness rated higher than waterproofness as we don't generally climb in the wet.

My go-to are the edelerid work gloves with a preference for the full fingerless. High scores in your 2 first requirements.and surprisingly tough for being so thin and light. Always on sale somewhere so.can be had well cheap

I also have a stash of the metolius iron hand for jobs that need the extra toughness or very long abseils. All time favourites but good luck finding a pair (sometimes crop on eBay) as they've been discontinued for about 10 years

Besides those, I go for a pair of well fitting standard work gloves. I hate the corded, or BD equivalent and various others. Feel like I'm wearing mitts with them

I've got some outdoor research full finger ones which are great. I've had Petzl cordex and the lighter weight BD ones before and worn through them fairly rapidly. The best I've ever had were plain leather ones from Beal that were like a second skin once broken in, but unfortunately they stopped making them.

I prefer full finger gloves for working with moving ropes in the mountains and I've found that the construction of the finger tips is the most important thing to get right. I've been looking at hestra gloves and thinking about trying them but they're a bit pricey.

Just get some thin leather gloves from a hard wear store or agricultural merchant. Try loads on to find the best fit.

I find full leather are best, as fabric backs get wet quick and let the wind through.

They are a faction of a the price of ‘outdoor models’ and do the same job. I normally add a clip loop, by whacking a nail though the cuff and tying a loop of thin cord.

I've endured a few pairs of cordex lights, pros and BD but dexterity has only gotten good the week before they fall apart.  I'm currently trialing some Mechanix Coyote (tactical gloves) super comfy, dexterity to the point of not being aware you are wearing them and they have a touch screen material. Really good for rope handling. I thought they would wear badly but do date impressed. Main use is limited to rope handling in rescue but trying to hammer them at work when I can. American made and silly cheap £15 for the quality.

I'll second the idea of go to a hardware store. The outdoor brands all suffer the same problem, shall we call it outdoor brand tax?

Currently using a pair of fingerless erbauer gloves from B&Q, they're virtually the same as the BD fingerless gloves I'd had previously (and wrecked caving) but 1/3 the cost. Only problem I have with fingerless is getting them off. Haven't used them with a properly fast moving rope yet though, if I do it'll be interesting to see how they cope with the heat build up.

Ejendals Tegera are my go to leather work gloves.

there's tones of varieties to choose from. the super thin assembly gloves are really nice, but a bit too thin for rough work. I'd suggest you get a small selection and try them.

Thanks all, that's given me some things to look at. I currently use some Scan brand ones for work - the material parts go fluffy and get caught on things, so not recommended.
