Has anyone had any experience with this shoe? I want to take my girlfriend bouldering on gritstone but she's not sure if she'll be into it so there's no point in getting a pricey pair of shoes. Something that's cheap, comfortable and relatively adequate at smeary slabby frictiony stuff would be ideal.

I had the previous version for a year... Great value and worth every penny! 

They will be fine as a first shoe. My first shoes had a hole in the toe fixed with inner tube repair sealant! 

If you want to save some cash, it might be worth having a look at that popular internet auction website.

Why not just upgrade slightly to the la Sportiva tarantula. Only about £20 more expensive but you get a much better beginners shoe. 

That was the other choice actually. How's the rubber on it compared to the ClimbX? Seems to me that all that really matters if we're doing V0 boulders on grit is the ability to smear (apart from fit obviously.

So we ended up getting Anasazi Pinks. Oops

Don’t forget about general shoe construction and materials. Much more love goes into a tarantula than a climb x from what I’ve seen.

I've been using a pair for over a year now - climbing every week at the wall from Sept to April.  Wearing well, have done routes up to F6c with no problem.  Worth every penny, I'm getting another pair when these ones give up.

I've been using them for years without any problems but its worth noting that I don't get out much.
