Flysheet material for DIY tarp?

Anyone know where you can buy tent flysheet type material? Doesn't have to be that fancy, just waterproof and lightweight. I'd like about 3m x 4m to make a tarp for bivying. Failing that, anywhere that sells cheap tarps? I like the look of the MSR ones, but they are a) huge and b) expencive.

If it's only for a night I have in the past used a clear plastic dustsheet from a DIY shop. Weighs about as much as a crumpled up plastic bag and easy to dispose of.
Made a bivvy out of old insitu fence posts and saw the sunrise from the south shiel ridge.
