Apart from the Petzl 8003 - who else makes full body harnesses? Do you have to look at the building trade to find them?

In reply to grumpybearpantsclimbinggoat: You could also just think about getting a chest harness to add to your harness other than getting complete new kit.

can probably find something along those lines in the sex trade to Grumpy :-p
In reply to Stew.G: Got a friend that wants to try climbing but is scared of falling out of the harness - yeah I know but it is her fear so looking for a full body single unit. She tried the Petzl but the smallest size didn't seem comfortable for her so thought I'd ask the masses.

As for the leather alternative for me - I have shares in the companies already!

Can you take her to a climbing shop that has a decent system for letting you test harnesses and get her to put a normal harness on and turn upside down in it to get a feel for how secure it is? It might help her get over her fear if she can actually turn upside down in one close to the ground (especially in a non-climbing environment where there's no pressure to climb in it). It's relatively easy to swing yourself upside down and hook your feet around the rope to keep yourself there. I'd imagine a decent shop would be happy to help.

Can't you just cross a sling over her chest or something.

She sounds a bit high maintenance to be much fun climbing with.
In reply to all: sorted now - have about 5 alternatives to offer.

Thanks

In reply to grumpybearpantsclimbinggoat: Sure it's not for the missus.... patter of tiny feet

In reply to Clears: Her feet aren't that small!

Could you envisage a world with a grumpybear jnr as well? Having seen my niece grow up into an evil haired harridan - I would only wish it on my worse enemies!

In reply to grumpybearpantsclimbinggoat: Look up a "Parisien Baudrier" - a type of chest harness made with a sling, which can be clipped into the harness, effectively turning it in to a full body harness.
