what company makes one? Basically something like the Montane Light-Speed jacket with Pertex Quantum, not Pertex Microlight?

Buffalo, O3 Shirt, http://www.buffalosystems.co.uk/ls10.htm . Unlike other Quantum Windshirts that stick to you as they are so light, this has a very light mesh liner which makes it non sticky and therefore very usable indeed. I love mine.

Very very nice.

In reply to nb290: Marmot Ino isn't made of Petex Quantum any more and the new fabric gets bad writeups. And the Buffalo is three times as heavy!

Montane, why no hooded jacket in Quantum fabric!? It's the only thing missing in your lineup. Could be called the 'Ultralite-Speed Jacket' and sell for a bit more than the Lite-Speed? I'd volunteer as a tester for the new product...

I might be 3 times as heavy, but it has a hood and doesn't stick to you at the first sign of any wind. I think those clever people at Buffalo have really looked at the material and seen what it can and can't do and made a garment that works to its strongest points, IMHO

What's so great about Pertex Quantum? I have one of those Montane windshirts for biking in and find it pretty sweaty TBH.

In reply to nb290: The pertex windshirts are the dogs! so warm over a microfleece. Got one of those montane ones, apple sized. Would love it to have a hood though. With you there.

What is the main gain over the current montane litespeed are you hoping to gain. If its weight then cut your hair and go to the loo before you go out.

I go through a litespeed about 1 a year due to backpack wearing the material.
Surely Quantum is less abrasion resistant?

In reply to mikehike: Quantum is half the weight and probably not much less durable while being more breathable than Microlight! That's what I'm after. I have the old Marmot Ion which was Quantum, hooded with full zip and 90 grams in size L, it breathes really well. I'd love to use it on alpine climbs but won't do so until there's sth on the market that I could buy when the Ion gets wrecked!

In reply to nb290: I'm reviewing the 2009 Marmot Ion for UKC at the moment. I was one of the people who bought one a few years back and found it very sweaty compared to pertex but the material that they are using this year is just fine. Same stuff as on the driclime jackets - no breathability issues at all and I've been wearing it lots over the last few weeks for cycling, climbing, etc.

Which one? I'm a sweaty bastard and have never had any condensation issues in my lite speed jkt. If I sweat in it I would too if I wouldn't wear the thing.
