Hi,

I'm a new member so if I've posted this in the wrong forum let me know and i will move it to where ever it should go.

I enjoy hill and mountain walking but whenever I get rained on inevitably my gloves let me down and I get wet and very cold hands. I would like to have a go at making some rain mittens. I've not made my own gear before but thought this could be an interesting little project to ease into it.

Does anyone have any advice on what would be the best material to use and where to buy it? I want something robust, waterproof, and (ideally) cheap.

Thanks for your help

Nice idea. Sewing machine or by hand?

I'm looking to make a sheath for a camping axe.

There was a post on Walk Highlands recently on a similar subject, chap had made a pair, but had yet to attempt to seal the seams.
