I'm interested to know if anyone has used both of these boots, and how they compare in terms of warmth etc?

Also if people have used the lighter versions, the Ultra's and the Guides, and how they compare to the old style Phantom Lites.

I'll be using them up to 7000m in Nepal.

I've yet to see 6000's in a shop, only Phantom Guides, so any advice appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

In reply to Rhys Jones: I've not used any of the newer Scarpa boots yet, but have used the older 6000's and the Spantiks.

I can safely say that the Spantik is my favorite boot of all time. They do tend to be a little more expensive than its competition but thats because they are simply better.

There very warm and should be more than warm enough for upto 7000m. Just remember to take a spare pair of the laces as they tend to snap every now and then. This shouldn't put you off though, their lace system works very well.

Compared with the Phantom 6000, I feel that they were warmer and definitely lighter, plus they look much better which has to be an advantage.

I don't think you can go wrong with Spatniks, but as with all boots you need to try them on properly. If they don't fit your fit then look at another model.

The Scarpa Phantom 6000 boot is new for this season in the UK. How have you managed to compare all of the above with the Spantik so quickly?

As he said 'I've not used any of the newer Scarpa boots yet, but have used the older 6000's'

There was a previous generation of the Scarpa Phantom 6000s

Forgot, sorry.

Here is some info on the new Phantom Guides....
Just got the Ultra and haven't been able to get out on them yet but they seem pretty good. I'll have a write up on them next month.

In reply to Rhys Jones: Thanks very much so far guys.

I visited Snow + Rock in Covent Garden yesterday and compared all the boots side by side:
Phantom Ultra's, Phantom Guides, Phantom 6000's and Spantiks.

There were slight differences between Ultra's and Guides, but a noticeable difference between Guide's and 6000's, most obviously, that the 6000's have a removeable inner boot.

I'll be ordering some 6000's and will update on how they are, I'll be using them upto 6000m in Peru this summer.

Thanks very much.
