Surely you should be able to judge the quality in person? Stitches, material, construction, etc. should be obvious to inspect.
The brand itself doesn’t mean much. I wouldn’t be surprised if different types of goods are made in different factories and consequentially up to different standards. Even well regarded brands do have their mess ups. I received Alpkit gaiters with plastic tabs pierced through the waterproof material (4 tiny holes in total) and had a drawcord failure on two Mountain Equipment garments (gaiters and a £300+ jacket) in less than a year.
