PU boot rot

Hmm, the PU heel on a set of boots has disintegrated.  The bottom sole is ok, the boot is ok but the built up heel is mush.

This looks like it's time for the bin - but on the off-chance someone know that this can be fix I have the boots cluttering up my hall way.

So anyone know of a cost-effective repair (on an old but expensive B3 winter boot)?

Depending on their sole construction, you might still be able to have them resoled.

If it's like mine in the photo you can get them resoled.

My ancient LaSportivas went like Petegunn's pic too. Resoled by LSR for £100. Feetfirst in Chesterfield can probably do it too.

I would say most B3 boots would have cemented construction, meaning it'd be possible to have them resoled. The original midsole might not be available anymore but it's often possible to have them put something functionally similar on.

Whether or not it's worth it depends on the state of the rest of the boot. Resoling B3s easily is upwards of 100 pounds.

Thanks everyone

I suspect that because of the age of the boots that the £100 required to make a speculative repair is better off going towards new boots

What boots do you have. I used https://lancashiresportsrepairs.co.uk/ to resole an old pair of La Sportiva Nepals (20 year old).  Hve definitely breather at least another 10 years of life into them, and at £325 a pop, I would say it was worth it.

You have nothing to lose by enquiring?

Regards
