Hi all,

Does anyone have any experience with using the 5mm Simond cordelette as a prusik with the Petzl Rad line? Does it hold ok for you?

Thanks!

Not that specific setup...

However I have used the generic 5mm cord on the petzl PUR line which is reported as much more slippery than the RAD line. I found it held ok, but generally needed much more wraps and more attention when dressing the prussik.  I typically use a french prussik but a klemheist might work better on these. Obviously the best thing to do is have a play somewhere safe before you use it in anger.

Have you seen this video on YouTube?  The whole thing is worth a watch but there's a section on prussiks.

Thanks for the reply.
Yes will certainly check all versions, just wanted to see if somebody knew that it categorically didn’t work.

That video was a great help generally on the line, unfortunately his two suggested prusiks were either a niche US one, or something homemade - and I’m certainly not at the point yet where I trust myself to make things used to save my life 😂

Tying a prussik loop is really straightforward, certainly worth learning to do. You can find lots of videos on YT on how to do it, and it's easy to see if you have done it correctly.  You just need 1.5m of cord with a double fisherman's knot on it.

Thanks yes certainly will do.

just wanted to avoid buying lots of cord and it going to waste if it obviously wouldn’t work with the rope I’m getting
