Hi All,

I'm hoping that someone on here could point me in the direction of a company (preferably UK based) that produces 7mm static rope. I am in need of a substantial amount (4000m). Mostly I find that I can only get 7mm accessory cord.

DMM produce static cords/ropes of various diameters, it may be worth while getting in touch with them to see what their capabilities would be. I can't imagine it'd be cheap though.

The static rope standard (EN1891) requires a minimum diameter of 8.5mm and a breaking strain that 7mm would not achieve (A-22kN, B-18kN).

Cheers everyone. good to know. Would that mean that I will definitely not be able to find a suitably rated 7mm rope (insurance wise this would be a problem)

Doubt anyone makes smaller than 9mm, in fact it looks as if my copy of the standard is woefully out of date and the minimum diameter is 9mm these days but then I´m not a working rope expert!

In reply to chris687: You do have a couple of options:

Beal Antipodes 8mm semi-static - http://www.beal-planet.com/2014/anglais/corde-antipode-8mm.html - this does NOT meet the normal standard for semi-static ropes however it does meets the French Caving type L standard for use by expert cavers. This is probably your best bet and only real option if you need an officially rated rope.

Beal 7mm dynema trail line - http://www.beal-planet.com/2014/anglais/cordelettes.html - this has a very high 15kN strength but being dyneema (low melting point) and only available in 50/60m length this is probably not ideal.
