In reply to TobyA:

thanks toby, last night i viewed a lightwave g2 trek. it seemed spacious and is a geodesic construction opposed to a tunnel (t-series is a tunnel).

how do you like the side entry on the solar 2, does the vestibule location work well?

In reply to fitzroy: Having the door at right angles to how you lie means that two adults can sit and help with the cooking in the porch - this is more difficult on tents of the size with door at the end of the inner tent.

I'm sure the lightwave is a good tent as well - I just know that the solar II is quite 'livable' compared to some other light two person tents I've used. See if you can see one in a shop somewhere.

In reply to fitzroy: I got a t1 cylq and was amazed at how small and light the thing is. It weights a mere 1.8kg and packs down very very small. Similar size to an ultralight (no zip) sleeping bag. I would recommend it if you are able to pitch it everywher eyou go, because the only problem is that it needs to be pegged out to stand up. No good for solid surfaces.
