Has anyone got one? If so what do you think of it? I don't mean the hundreds of people who wear them on the tube either!

Thanks

nice to wear as casual atire....

but not warm enough as a real duvet IMO

quite robust, though the down is quite thin in places after a while

get a Rab jacket

In reply to m0nkeyboy minus cookies!: it like one of those eighties ravers puffers, i'll stick to a rab or a mountain hardwear.

The rab jackets are twice the price, do you guys think they're that much better than TNF one?

Thanks

In reply to m0nkeyboy minus cookies!: i've got a rab, its lasted me 6/7 years so far, patched up with gaffer in places but still warm. basically it's up to you, seems you've got yourself set on a TNF jacket, one of my mates got one of those, just looks a bit clubby to me.

In reply to nature boy:

Oh no, not really set on TNF jacket, just prefer the price. I don't know much about the down fillings, weights etc.

Might have to go to Snow and Rock to have a look at the rab, quite a few people have been saying good things about them

Thanks

In reply to m0nkeyboy minus cookies!: I've got a nupste. I've had mine about 7.5 years now. Its warm, light, made of good quality down and doesn't have any unnecessary bits on it you don't need. I've used in deep cold conditions over a buffalo shirt and belay jacket and it kept me warm whilst static (-27 oC or there abouts). Living in Helsinki, I use it a lot in winter just as my everyday coat (waiting 10 minutes for a bus in city centre at -20 is only 'psychologically' warmer than waiting 10 minutes for your mate to build a belay on mountainside at the same temp!), I wash it in a normal washing machine perhaps once every two years using down soap and it keeps coming out clean and more fluffy. It has lost some down but all down jackets will if used a lot over a number of years.

Basically its the epitomy of a light alpine down duvet. If thats what you want, as opposed to a synthetic duvet, and you know its limitation, I can't recommend it highly enough. Once upon a time it was even 'cool'!

Check out the Rab Neutrino Endurance. Its 750+ fill so does the job way way below zero and the hood works a treat on icy mornings. Worth every penny and going on these other folks reviews of the Rab kit; it will last for ages!
Good luck

It may be irrelevant but I have a Baltoro which you can have for 130 (less than a Nuptse). Blue sized medium.

Baltoro? damn! that's an oven!

if you need an allround jacket, the SUMMIT from north face is worth a look, but it's parka Length I think

I've been to really low temps a few times in mine and not had any problems; stayed really warm. One of the things I like about it is that it stuffs into it's internal pocket and means I can stash it into my rucsac. Question is what are you using it for? I've used it in Kili and Peru with no problems as well as some very cold winter days in Scotland. It has also saved my life sitting through 90 minutes of dross at Parkhead during a midweek February game against Motherwell.........
