Has anyone experienced problems with TNF tent groundsheets letting in water, i have recently bought a VE25 and have found that the groundsheet is getting a bit damp even when just laid on wet grass.

Cheers

In reply to pete mc c: Not at all, I've used mine all over Scotland in deep snow, heavy rain, strong winds and have had no problems at all.

Are you syure it isn't condensation under your sleeping matt?

In reply to Iain Ridgway: No it is all over, the material becomes transparent when you put your hand under it, and changes colour. This is only when placed on wet grass, the floor feels damp and does let in some moisture.....pretty shit as it is 2 months old

is it new? (as in new from shop not new to you but second hand) just checking.

M24 gets damp in wet ground but thats 6+ years old and heavily abused so you can try either,

a)proofing the groundsheet
b) seam sealing the groundsheet seams (if TNF still do high seams rather than taped true bucket style groundsheets)
c) both of the above!
d) fill it with water and see if it leaks? (it will if its high seam style groundsheet so no point doing this if its that type of design)

In reply to pete mc c: I had the same problem with an MSR Fury tent. In rain when the ground got wet the groundsheet let in water anywhere there was something resting on it, ended up with small puddles. The tent was provided as part of an expedition kit and was worn out. Definitely not condensation, just knackered.

In reply to pete mc c:

groundsheets are always the first thing to "noticably" leak as teh added pressure casues water ingress which you dont get on the fly but normally old tents! new tents g/s may be thin and easily torn occasionally but should always be waterproof!

In reply to pete mc c: Just tested groundsheet on my tent; and yes, it's not just condensation, it leaks! Anyone know address to return it to?
