I lost my aged and battered Rab Microlight down jacket last night (long story). I'd only been saying last week that I was probably due a new one.

I wore it daily as well as for hiking, belaying and occasionally skiing. So, what are folk recommending? Another microlight? Or go synthetic? Sustainability and ethics trump cost for me although of course cheaper always nice.

I love my Mountain Equipment waterproof, not sure what they have that might be suitable?

Cheers in advance 👍

Montane Prism. Old design but a trusted multiuse jacket that is hard wearing and synth.

You might want to have a look at the various Decathlon offerings, such as:

https://www.decathlon.co.uk/p/men's-mountain-and-trekking-padded-and-hooded...

159g of 800 fp down (XL), compared to 153g 700fp in the Microlight Alpine (Decathlon sizes are one smaller than everyone else...).

The MT100 is a lighter jacket.
