I'm going to need a new pair of rock boots soon but the Anasazi's I have were never comfy, just too narrow to the point of being painful on my toes and I don't climb hard enough to justify that kind of pain.

I used to have some Scarpa green velcro shoes which were very comfy but not made any more - are scarpa generally wide?

Thanks...

I have wide feet and Evolv have always seemed to fit my feet better.

In reply to ShoePolice: Have a look at Scarpa Force/Vapour V's.

In reply to ShoePolice: Have a look at 5.10 Galileo. Used them for the first time today, quite impressed.

La Sportiva Katanas are not only rather wide, but they will stretch quite a bit as well.

In reply to ShoePolice: I'd second the Scarpas and Katanas, I have super wide, hairy Hobbit feet and both fit perfectly.

I have very short wide feet. Boreal, Red Chili and Scarpa all fitted OK although I prefer Red Chili. 5.10s have never fitted me.

Just got a pair of the new Evolve Optimus Prime (the ones with the silver straps)...super wide fit...none of the ladies shoes fit me due to my wide feet...they do small like typical Evolves after a few weeks though!

In reply to ShoePolice: Red chili can fit if you have really fat feet and can live with their atrocious excuse for rubber, same with evolve (on all points).

Some models of five ten are quite wide like the Galileo and the anazasi though the last one is narrower.

I have semi fat feet and scarpa vapour lace fit me brilliantly width wise.

If you happen to have long toes stay away from some five ten models like rouge and all la sportiva shoes as the toe box is too low to give a proper fit.

Boreal can be quite wide as well but not as wide as say red chili

In reply to ShoePolice:

As others have said, my fat feet fit into certain brands of Boreal, Red Chilli, Scarpa and Evolv.

I have never found a velcro shoe that would do up on my feet though (my feet are fat in the middle), so have always used either slippers or lace ups.

I have the same problem except with the Red Chilis with the three velcro straps.

Try Boreal jokers go for half size down from your regular shoe and in no time they will feel like slippers. I have broad feet and quite long toes and i get much needed support from instep to toes. For more technical steep stuff i go for La Sportiva Muira vs and the reason i like these is because apart from having broad feet i have narrow ankles they were a little painfull for about six good climbing days but now fit perfect because they are down turned and i didnt want to suffer too much i went for my regular shoe size but most people i know go for a half or full size less but hey everyones feet are diferent just like evryones hands. Good luck but choose very carefully really look at your own feet and play around on footholds in your bare feet so you can identify where the support is needed most. I dont mean put all your body weight on bare feet i mean just see how your foot reacts and how much bend they have naturally. A good shoe is forgottten about once its on if its the right shoe for you but just bear in mind that steep overhanging routes require a diferent shoe than lets say if you was to be spending a lot of time onthe grit

I asked the same here recently. Similar helpful replies and advice, you could also check out Saltic shoes at Alien Rock. Very wide, possibly due to the leather upper stretching? Vertical World in Dundee are one of the few places to sell them, worth a call for advice?

In reply to ShoePolice: 5.10 Galileo are the best I've found for my pair of flippers. In the past ive used Red Chillis and Evolves, and neither fitted as well or were as good as the Gailleos.

5.10 sizing seems pretty hit and miss, its worth trying on several different pairs in the same size as theirs a lot of variation in the sizing and fit.
