A hill with bells on it.

Cat Bells. A mere pimple of a hill.. A honeypot. Did it yesterday from Derwentwater and had to dig embarrassingly deep! Most cardio I've had in a decade! It's the latest mile post on a project I'm doing- and feeling good!

Its good to get photographic evidence. People may find your iceaxe years later and think, 'did he ...'.

On a related note... If you have small children, you can stop at the halfway point. Open your copy of Mrs Tiggywinkle and look down on Littletown farm. The pic in the book, is the same as the view. It adds to the charm and magic of the books and stops them complaining about the climb.

I love Cat Bells. One of the best viewpoints anywhere imho. The last time I was there we had to crawl to the summit because of the wind.

Thank you - I didn't know that - I'm going to the Lakes later in summer and will do that!

While it can be as busy as Snowdon there's a reason for that - it has most of the elements of a proper mountain day including a bit of scrambling-ish but in miniature, a great first experience of the fells if anyone was after one!  Or consider it a warmup for the rest of a Newlands round.

Really do quite like it.

Loughrigg Fell is another great mini mountain, and Lingmoor Fell in Langdale isn't bad either.
