I have had “ the high mountains of Britain and Ireland by Irving butterfield  “ for many years and it has been a go to source of inspiration for all that time. I would like to buy my son a similar but more modern version of the same thing. A coffee table book full of pictures route ms descriptions , maybe some text not just about the way up and down each hill . Any ideas ?

Since it’s a SMT publication the proceeds will go towards path work and other SMC publications.

I agree with Scraggy Goat, that the latest SMC guide is really well laid out, and has a huge amount of information and a lot of different routes and combinations of Munros. Plus there are many many good pictures.

Thanks both . Ordered . If anybody has any others I might raid the piggy bank for me . I lament the loss of those offers that use to fall out of the climbing mags with a choice of 3/4/5 coffee table books for a silly cheap price if you then purchased a few more over the year  . Cancel and then repeat . Cold climbs , classic rock , hard rock . I’d like to think that’s where my ( now lost to the wind …..but I still have my suspicions ) copy of extreme rock came from .

Currently on preorder (released imminently) but looks great 👍 (I’ve no affiliation with the author, but have ordered one myself)
